Overview
Hazard Point is a first-person shooting prototype where you move around a small arena and eliminate randomly spawning zombies. The game centres on aiming, shooting and reloading, with sprinting, jumping and crouching giving you different ways to move through the space.
The arena uses a simple greybox layout, with ramps, raised platforms and low obstacles around an open central area. It keeps the action easy to read while giving the player changes in height and routes around the geometry. Random enemy spawns mean you need to watch the arena as well as the target in front of you.
The rifle can be fired from the normal first-person view or aimed down its sights. An ammunition counter shows how many rounds are left, while the weapon and character animations support the actions during play. The prototype brings these movement, shooting and enemy-spawning systems together in one playable space.
I developed Hazard Point solo over six weeks. It was my first project in Unreal Engine 5, and I kept the scope to a basic FPS prototype so I could build a complete playable loop while getting familiar with the engine.
Development
Working solo meant bringing the player controls, weapon behaviour, random zombie spawning and animation together myself. This project was my first experience connecting these parts in Unreal Engine 5.
The result is a small Windows prototype focused on the core interaction of moving through an arena and shooting enemies. The greybox environment reflects that stage of development.
Controls
Move with WASD, sprint with Shift, jump with Space and crouch with Ctrl. Press R to reload and Alt + F4 to quit.
The published controls use left mouse to aim and right mouse to shoot.
